Amanda Isom

Amanda Isom joined Bloom Regulatory as Regulatory Affairs Associate Director in 2020.  Prior to 2020, Amanda worked for the Cosmetic, Toiletry and Perfumery Association (CTPA), initially in the Scientific and Technical department and later as Compliance Manager.

​Within her role at CTPA, Amanda provided support and advice to members on the European Cosmetics Regulation and related topics and legislative frameworks.  Amanda has liaised closely with the Government on the implementation of a UK regulatory framework for cosmetics post-Brexit.  Having delivered much training to industry during the launch of the EU Cosmetic Products Notification Portal in 2012, Amanda has been providing input to the development of a UK database for notifying products.  In collaboration with the Chartered Trading Standards Institute, Amanda has delivered regional training to Trading Standards Officers on ‘what compliance looks like’ – focussing on labelling, Product Information Files (PIF) and Serious Undesirable Effect reporting and the related causality assessment.

Within her role at Bloom Regulatory, Amanda provides compliance and strategic support for companies looking to develop and market cosmetics and ‘beauty from within’ products in the UK/EU and further afield.

​Amanda has been an active participant in a number of groups at Cosmetics Europe, including the Strategic Core Team Regulatory, PIF, nanomaterials, CMRs and the application of the Cosmetics Regulation.  Additionally, Amanda has participated in UK stakeholder and steering groups including the British Standards Institute technical committee for cosmetics and BRCGS Consumer Products Standard Working Group.

​Amanda achieved a distinction in the Society of Cosmetic Scientists (SCS) Diploma in Cosmetic Science in 2008 and is currently an author and examiner for the course.  From 2017 to 2020 Amanda held the voluntary position of Education Chair/Honorary Education Secretary for the SCS and has co-edited the SCS/Royal Society of Chemistry book on ‘Discovering Cosmetic Science’.
